2023-24 CAF CC: Insurance get Algeria’s ASO Chlef as Rivers United move to next round

Nigeria FA Cup winner Bendel Insurance face an uphill battle after being drawn against Algeria’s ASO Chlef in the preliminary rounds of the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Benin Arsenal will hope to navigate their way past two North African sides on their path to the group stages of this season’s CAF confederations cup.

Insurance will lock horns with ASO Chlef of Algeria over two legs in the first round preliminary rounds. The winner of the tie will do battle against RS Berkane of Morocco in the second round Playoffs for a spot in the group stage.

ASO Chlef emerged champions of the Algerian Cup last month after defeating CR Belouizdad 2-1 in the final.

Meanwhile, former Nigeria league champions Rivers United were drawn bye during the draws thereby exempting them from the first leg Playoffs round.

They will face the winner of the game between Etoile Flante of Burkina Faso and Senegal’s Ziginchour.

The CAF confederation cup first leg will be played between 18th of August to 20th August while the 2nd leg is scheduled between 25th -27th August, 2023
