2023/24 CAF CL Playoffs: Enyimba Battles Al Ahly As Remo Faces Ghana’s Medeama

Nigeria’s two representatives in the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League, Enyimba FC of Aba and Remo Stars of Ikenne on Tuesday July 25th discovered their opponents for the preliminary rounds of the competition’s playoffs.

In a draw conducted on Tuesday morning by the Confederation of African Football CAF at its headquarters in Cairo Egypt, Enyimba FC will face a tough test as they lock horns with Al Ahly Benghazi of Libya. The first leg will be played in Libya, while the second leg will be played in Nigeria.

On the other hand, Remo Stars will do battle against Ghanaian champions Medeama in the first round of the preliminary round. With the first leg billed to take place in Ghana.

Meanwhile, African football governing body, CAF has also revealed the route to the group stage of this season’s elite football club competition by making a draw for the possible teams that will face-off in the second round of the playoffs.

While the winner between Enyimba and Al Ahly will trade tackles against the winner in the game between Coton Sports FC of Benin Republic and Cote d’Ivoire’s Asec Mimosa, the winner between Remo Stars and Medeama will face already seeded Horoya FC of Guinea in the second round Playoffs.

The preliminary rounds for the CAF Champions League will kickoff from August 18 to September 30, 2023 while the group stages is expected to commence from the 24th of November to the 26th of May 2024.

The winners of the first and second preliminary round matches will automatically qualify to the group stage of the competition.
