AFCON 2025, 2027 Bids: Algeria Withdraws As Nigeria, Others Know Fate On Wed. Sept 27

Algeria has withdrawn their bid to host the 2025 and 2027 African Cup of Nations giving a boost to the chances of Nigeria and Benin Republic in staging the continental showpiece.

Algeria was one of the leading countries bidding to host the tournament but made an official announcement about their withdrawal on Monday without disclosing the reason for their withdrawal.

Nigeria and Benin Republic will now have to contend with the likes of Morocco, South Africa, Zambia, Senegal for the hosting right.

The African football governing body had earlier inspected the facilities of the bidding countries. They are expected to announce the hosts on Wednesday September 27th 2023.
