AFL: Finidi Confident Of Victory, Wydad Coach Tells Players To Be Ready

Head coach of Nigeria’s representative in the ongoing African Football League Enyimba FC, Finidi George, is confident his team can emerge victorious over Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco after their first leg loss in Nigeria.

The People’s Elephant lost their quarter-final first leg 0-1 to the North Africans at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state and will need an outright victory of two unreplied goals in Morocco to progress to the semi final of the competition.

“If the match was today (Wednesday), I would have been concerned about not getting enough rest, but the match is tomorrow (Thursday) and we have a good amount of time to prepare for it.

“We have a young team and all the players have dreams and we are here to achieve victory and qualification.

This will happen if all the players deliver a good performance”, Finidi stated during the pre-match conference.

Meanwhile, the head coach of Wydad Athletic Club, Adil Ramzy, has warned his players to be physically ready and take responsibilities ahead of their second leg clash against Enyimba on Thursday.

“The First match was good with a positive result but tomorrow’s match will be like playing two matches.

The focus must be high and players must realise their responsibilities and physical fitness is also a factor. In my experience as a player, in the early matches, physical fitness is crucial”, Ramzy said.

The second leg of the African Football League quarter-final is scheduled to hold at the Stade V Mohammed pitch on Thursday at 7:00pm (Nigeria time).
