Nigeria’s queen of the track, Tobi Amusan, continued her dominance of the Women’s 100m hurdle in impressive fashion at the 13th African Games at the University of Ghana on Wednesday night to win her third conservative gold medal.
The world record holder clocked 12.89 seconds to win the race far ahead of her closest rival, Madagascar’s Sidonie Fiadanantsoa (13.19) and Zimbabwe’s Kamangirira Ashley Tinashe (13.59).
The victory was Amusan’s third consecutive African Games title. She extends her record of being the only athlete to have won it more than twice following her triumphs in Brazzaville (2015), Rabat (2019), and yesterday in Accra.
The Nigerian sprint star was almost disqualified at the beginning of the race following a false start, but she was left off the hook by being cautioned with a yellow card.
