Nigeria’s D’Tigers bounced back to winning ways with a resounding 71-55 win against Gabon on Wednesday afternoon to qualify for the AfroCan quarterfinal.
D’Tigers began the tournament with a victory over Mali before losing their second match against hosts Angola. That defeat meant Nigeria needed to play a classification game against Gabon for a place in the quarterfinal.
D’Tigers put in a commanding performance on Wednesday afternoon to defeat their Gabonese counterparts and advance to the quarter-final of the tournament.
The game saw the two teams tied at 18-18 at the end of the first quarter before the Nigerian side moved ahead with a 25-15 win in the second quarter of the match.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers increased their lead in the third quarter winning 15-13 before wrapping things up in the final quarter 15-8.
Nigeria will face the 2019 champions DR Congo in the quarterfinal.
