Andersson confirms talks over Super Eagles job

Swedish tactician Janne Andersson has confirmed holding talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the vacant Super Eagles coaching job.

The NFF is still searching for a new head coach for the Eagles over two months after former international, Finidi George left the position.

There are reports that Andersson, a former head coach of the Swedish national team, has agreed to coach the three-time African champions.

The tactician expressed his desire to manage the Super Eagles.

“It’s a huge footballing nation. I can confirm that I have had a dialogue with the Nigeria Football Federation,” he told Swedish newspaper, Expressen.

“It’s a huge footballing nation so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team coach.

“Dialogue is ongoing and I don’t really want to say more than that. I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways. So we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Nigeria welcomes the Cheetahs of Benin Republic on September 7th by 5 pm at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo for the 2025 AFCON qualifier

The team will take on the Amavubi of Rwanda three days later in Kigali.
