Anti-Doping Violation: Nigeria Athletics Federation Backs Amusan

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has shown its support towards Nigeria track sensation and Huddles World record-holder, Tobi Amusan after the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) anti-doping rule violation allegation against her.

AIU on Wednesday alleged Amusan to have deliberately missed the compulsory doping test 3 times in the last one year, casting doubt on her participation in next month’s world championships.

AFN technical director Samuel Onikeku expressed their sadness about the situation while speaking on Brila FM.

“This is not the news we are happy about, Tobi Amusan is just like the face of Nigeria athletics, she’s the one we are proud of and her achievements.

“Her world championship gold and world record in Oregon last year was a unifying factor in the country”, he said.

The Nigerian athlete set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles of 12.12 seconds at last year’s World Athletics Championships.

Amusan, 26, vowed to resolve the charges against her before this year’s competition, set to be held next month in Budapest.
