Bakole calls out Joshua in African showdown

Congolese heavyweight boxer Martin Bakole is keen to face former world champion Anthony Joshua in a historic showdown in Africa.

Bakole expressed his desire to bring the fight to Africa, reminiscent of the iconic ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in 1974.

The Congolese boxer intends to involve key figures like his country’s president and his growing rapport with Riyadh Season’s chairman, Turki Al Sheikh to bring the event to reality.

“In Africa, I need my president to be involved, but thank God he is open to it,” Bakole said.

“It would be such a pleasure for me to fight in Africa and be an ambassador for Riyadh Season. I’ve been calling people out like Joshua because he is originally from Nigeria. My hope is to always fight back home in Africa.”

Bakole recently boosted his profile after defeating American prospect Jared Anderson in the fifth-round.

34-year-old Joshua is currently preparing for a high-profile bout against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium.

The Nigerian-born Briton, recently recorded notable victories against Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, and Otto Wallin.
