Nigeria’s representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United is expected to face a North African club in their quarter-final fixture.
The Pride of Rivers reached the quarter-final of the competition for the second consecutive year after a 2-1 victory over Dreams FC of Ghana on Sunday at the Godswill Apkabio International stadium in Uyo.
The win sees Rivers United finish Group C in second place behind Dreams FC due to an inferior goal difference despite both sides finishing on 12 points.
Meanwhile, all the top teams from the other groups are North African teams except Dreams FC.
The four group winners include Zamalek SC (Egypt) USM Alger (Algeria), RS Berkane (Morocco) and Dreams FC (Ghana).
Rivers United is now expected to be handed a tough draw against either Zamalek, RS Berkane or USM Alger.
