CAF CL Qualifiers: Delta Queens Cruise To Semi Final After Win Over Benin Rep. Champions Sam Nelly

Owoeye Temitope’s first-half strike and Ifeoma Ifitezue second-half goal made the difference as Delta Queens beat Benin Republic women league champions Sam Nelly FC 2-0 on Friday to book their place in the semi-finals of 2023 CAF Women Champions League WAFU Zone B Qualifiers.

After thrashing USFA Of Burkina Faso three nil in their first encounter on Sunday, Nigeria Women’s champions Delta Queens needed a win against Sam Nelly FC of Binin Republic at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium to top Group A and secure passage to the Semi final of the tournament.

Owoeye Temitope opened the scoring for Delta Queens in the 34th minute with a long range effort against their Nigerian dominated Beninoise rivals.

Ifeoma Ifituzue doubled the lead for the Nigerian side in the 54th minute of the match as she blasted her first goal of the tournament into the roof of the net.

The Nigeria Women’s Football League champions almost made it 3-0 in the 68th minute after Owoeye Temitope almost notched her second goal of the match but her attempt went inches wide.

Consequently, Delta Queens finished as Group A winners with six points and have booked their spot in the final four.

Meanwhile, Owoeye Temitope was awarded the Player Of The Match (POTM).
