Rivers United FC have arrived in Ghana for their CAF Confederation’s cup group C matchday 2 encounter against Dreams FC of Ghana.
The Pride of Rivers departed from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos by 7:30am on Friday morning, and had a brief stopover at the Kotoko International Airport in Accra, the Ghanaian Capital, before heading for Kumasi, the venue of the game.
The match is billed to hold on Sunday 3rd December 2023 at the 40,528 capacity Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Kick-off is scheduled for 4pm local time (5pm NIG).
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Congolese referee, Messie Jessie Oved Nkounkou Mvoutou as the centre referee. He will be supported by assistant referees also from Congo, while Ivan Gartor Brown from Liberia is the Match Commissioner.
Ghana FA Cup holders Dreams FC lost away 2-0 to Club Africain of Tunisia in their first group game, and will be aiming to beat Rivers United in the second group game. Rivers United on the other hand defeated APC do Lobito 3-0 in their first group match played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria on Sunday.
