CAFCC Draw: Rivers United Faces Club Africain, Dreams FC, Lobito In Group C

The groups for the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup have now been made official, with Nigeria’s only representative, Rivers United finding out who their continental opposition are.

According to the draws made by the African football governing body CAF on Friday in Johannesburg, South Africa, the former Nigeria league champions will lock horns against Tunisian giants, Club Africain in the group stage of this season’s CAF Confederation Cup. Both teams are pooled in Group C alongside Dreams FC of Ghana and APC Lobito of Angola.

To maintain the country’s continental football coefficient, the Pride of Rivers must get into the knockout round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rivers United defeated Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso 2-0 on aggregate in the second preliminary round of the competition to reach the group stages.

The Port Harcourt-based club reached the quarter-final of last season’s CAF Confederation Cup where they were eliminated by Young Africans of Tanzania.

Stanley Eguma tutored side has also become the only Nigerian team to reach the CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage for two seasons in a row.


Group A – USMA (ALG), Future FC (EGY), Supersport United (RSA), Al Hilal Benghazi (LBY).

Group B – Zamalek (EGY), Sagrada Esperança (ANG), Academie SOAR, Abu Salim (LBY).

Group C – Rivers United (NGR), Club Africain (TUN), Dreams FC (GHA) APC Lobito (ANG).

Group D – RS Berkane (MAR), Diables Noirs (CGO), Stade Malien (MLI), Sekukhune United (RSA).
