Nigerian champions, Edo Queens began their CAF Women’s Champions League qualifications campaign on a winning note.
The Moses Aduku-led girls thrashed AS Garde of Niger Republic 5-0 on Sunday at the Stade de Yamoussoukro in Cote D’Ivoire.
Emem Essien broke the deadlock in the 35th minute with a solo effort.
Captain Suliat Abideeen added the second from the penalty spot two minutes into the first half added time.
It took the Nigerian side only four minutes into the second half to make it 3-0 – a rocket free kick from Blessing Iliveda from 22 meters away from goal.
In the 71st minute, substitute Esther Moses made it four for the NWFL Champions following a defence-splitting pass from Esther Iyang.
Three minutes later, another substitute, Joy Jerry, hit the roof of the net to put the icing on the cake.
The other game in the group between Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies and AS Etincelle of Burkina Faso ended in a goalless draw.
Edo Queens top Group B with three points, with Hasaacas Ladies and AS Etincelle on one point apiece.
Moses Adukwu’s side will face Hasaacas Ladies in their next game on Wednesday, August 14 at the same stadium
