Edo Queens will on Friday slug it out against Aïnonvi FC of Benin Republic in the final of the CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers (WAFU B) in Cote D’Ivoire.
The Nigerian champions on Tuesday secured a 2-1 win over home team FC Inter D’Abidjan in the semifinal at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké.
Moses Adukwu’s side began their campaign with a 5-0 thumping of AS Garde from Niger, followed by a convincing 3-0 win against Ghana’s Hasaacas Ladies. A narrow 1-0 victory over Omnisport Etincelle secured their position as Group B leaders.
Ainonvi FC’s journey to the final was marked by a gritty 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso’s A.O. Etincelle.
The winner of this match will represent the WAFU Zone B in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Cairo, Egypt – a first-ever achievement for both clubs.
The third-place match between Inter D’Abidjan and A.O. Etincelle will take place today.
