Enyimba’s Emeka Obioma’s Deal To Esperance Of Tunisia Collapse

Talks between Tunisian club, Espérance Sportive de Tunis and last season’s NPFL top scorer Chukwuemeka Obioma have now broken down.

The 24-year-old striker won the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier League golden boot where he scored 14 goals in the regular season and added two more goals in the playoffs to take his overall season’s tally to 16 goals as Enyimba recorded their ninth domestic league success.

Esperance, who have won the CAF Champions League on four occasions, were knocked out of the competition at the quarterfinals by their country’s rivals CF Sfaxien due to their poor attacking setup hence, their search for a new strike force.

According to reports, Obioma, whose two-year contract with the People’s Elephant has expired, was presented to three clubs Etoile du sahel, Esperance and AS Soliman all in Tunisia by his agent.

The deal couldn’t pull through as Esperance is not too convinced of Obioma’s ability to take their foreign slot which has led to the club’s decision not to press further in the negotiations and so are keeping the foreign slot in their squad for Algerian international and AFCON winner, Yoseff belalli.

It is also believed that Enyimba is willing to pay their top scorer N1 Million monthly to extend his contract with the Aba giants though, Emeka obioma is currently waiting for an improved offer from Enyimba FC as he wants N1.2m monthly salary from the 9 times league champions.

Emeka Obioma is currently in Aba.
