Fed Cup: Insurance Pip 10-Man Rangers To Win First Title In 43 Years

Bendel Insurance defeated 10-man Rangers 1-0 to win the 2023 Federation Cup trophy at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Wednesday night.

Imade Osehenkhoe scored the winning goal from the spot late in the first half.

The Benin Arsenals were awarded a penalty late in the first half after Chinemerem Ugbwueze handled the ball inside the box.

Ugbwueze was sent off for the offence, his second booking of the game.

Imade colly slotted the ball home sending Rangers goalkeeper Detan Ogundare the wrong way.

Both teams created goal scoring opportunities afterwards but were let down by their poor marksmanship.

It was Bendel Insurance’s fourth Federation Cup title and their first in 43 years.

Insurance went home with the sum of fifteen million Naira (N15m) as winners while Rangers International got the sum of seven million, five hundred thousand Naira (N7.5m) as runners-up.

Monday Odigie’s side alongside Rivers United will represent Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
