Four-Nation U16 Tourney: Netherlands Beat Future Eagles as Wonder Kid Manneh Becomes First Gambian To Play For Nigeria

The Netherlands U16 national team on Wednesday defeated Nigeria’s Future Eagles 1-0 in their first game of the ongoing Four-Nation U16 Dream Cup International Tournament in Japan.

The Netherlands scored the only goal of the match in the first half, following a shaky start from the Nigerian team. The Future Eagles improved their performance as the game progressed but were unable to get an equalizer.

Nigeria will next face USA before tackling host Japan in the final match.

Meanwhile, 15 year old Gambian-born Ebrima Manneh has decided to pledge his allegiance to Nigeria and made his debut for the Future Eagles in their narrow loss to the Netherlands.

Born to a Nigerian father and a Gambian mother, Ebrima Manneh, left The Gambia for Nigeria two years ago and joined Hype Buzz (HB) Academy, based in Abuja. He later attracted the attention of the national team selectors of Nigeria U15 who were then in camp ahead of their trip to Japan.

Manneh’s father currently resides in France while his mother still lives in The Gambia.
