Gokana Football Council Visits Hon. Confidence Deko As LGA Chairman Partners With Body

The Gokana Football Council on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Gokana Local Government Council, Hon. Confidence Nyima Deko, DSSRS in his office at the council secretariat, Kpor.

The Football Council, led by its Chairman, Mr. Martins Giadom and Secretary, Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel presented a letter of appointment to the Chairman as the Grand Patron of its body in appreciation of his remarkable contributions to the peaceful coexistence of Gokana communities through grassroots sports as well as infrastructural development amongst other laudable achievements of his administration.

Mr. Martins Giadom reiterated the commitment of the Gokana Football Council in turning football in Gokana into an enviable venture where indigenous male and female footballers will be exported, exposed and handsomely rewarded for their skills.

Mr. Giadom assured of the Football Council’s readiness to always provide policy guidelines and schemes for the development of the game, as the body seek to partner with the Local Government Council with regards to the forthcoming Chairman’s Cup scheduled to hold in December, sponsorship of female football training in Gokana which is to commence in October, management of the Gokana Central Stadium amongst other engagements.

The Football Council chairman concluded by requesting for a date for the formal inauguration of the Executive Chairman of Gokana LGA as its Grand Patron as well as the recently elected 5-member Board into the Gokana Football Council. He also requested for the approval of the 2-man management committee responsible for the day-to-day running of Gokana United FC.

On his part, Hon. Confidence Nyima Deko, DSSRS accepted the appointment to serve as the Grand Patron of the Council and promised to fully engage the Football Council in ensuring the smooth running of the forthcoming Chairman’s Cup which will not only unite the people but enhance economic growth of the Local Government.

Hon. Deko also disclosed that his administration has lined up festivities which will include football activities, cultural displays and entertainment from December 1st to December 31st to engage the people of Gokana.

The council chairman promised to give Gokana Central Stadium a facelift but decried the level of vandalism being done on the stadium’s facilities.

The honourable chairman enjoined the Football Council to be involved in preserving the Stadium and assured of his commitment to work with the body to uplift sports men and women in Gokana and also attract investors to the area through sports.
