Heartland FC defeated Kano Pillars 2-0 on Friday in the final of the Nigeria National League Super Eight playoffs at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The NNL Super 8 playoffs was used to decide the champions of 2022/2023 NNL season.
Former Ibom Youths FC winger Francis Erikan Dominic scored the opener for the Naze Millionaires in the 54th minute, with an incredible solo run.
Fabian Omaka doubled the advantage for Heartland in the 76th minute of the game, following an assist from Chidiebere Ajoku to give Coach Christian Obi’s men a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Christian Obi’s side finished the competition unbeaten.
The Owerri club and Sporting Lagos secured top-flight status from the Southern Conference while Kano Pillars and Katsina United gained promotion to the Nigeria Premier League from the Northern Conference.
