Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has expressed his gratitude to Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following the warm reception accorded the team after their AFCON campaign in Côte d’Ivoire.
Peseiro and his players were received by Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock on Tuesday.
The players and their officials were awarded with national honours, flats as well as plots of land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the reception.
The Portugues tactician took to social media to show his appreciation to the president.
“Honored and proud. We were received and commended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who reinforced what we already felt from the Nigerian people, participating in AFCON made the whole Nation dream, happy and united!, Peseiro wrote on his official X handle.
The three-time African champions finished second at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, losing 2-1 to hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the final of the competition.
