I didn’t apply to be Eagles coach – Siasia

Former Nigeria international Samson Siasia has denied applying for the Super Eagles coaching job.

Siasia noted that he can not be in the running for the job due to his suspension by FIFA.

In August 2019, Siasia was banned from all football-related activities for life by FIFA and fined 50,000 Swiss Francs.

However, in 2021, after his successful appeal, the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) reduced Siasia’s life ban to five years and also dismissed the 50,000 Swiss Francs he had been ordered to pay.

The five-year ban is set to end in August 2024, which means he can not work within the sports sector until then.

“I did not apply for the Super Eagles coaching job because I know FIFA has yet to lift the suspension on me.

“I don’t know where those who reported that I applied got their story from.

“It’s common sense, I can not be suspended and be applying for a job.

“I know I would not even be considered for it,”

Siasia won the silver medal with Nigeria’s Olympic team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
