I’m honoured and committed – New Rivers United Coach Finidi

Finidi George was on Wednesday unveiled as head coach of former Nigeria Premier Football League champions Rivers United at the club’s secretariat in Port Harcourt.

The former Ajax winger is back in the dugout a few weeks after he resigned from his post as Super Eagles head coach.

The Pride of Rivers parted ways with long-serving tactician Stanley Eguma towards the end of last season due to their poor campaign.

The Port Harcourt club disappointingly finished in eighth position in the 2023/24 NPFL season.

Finidi George expressed his gratitude to the club, saying: “I am honoured to have this opportunity, and I thank the Sports Commissioner, the General Manager, and the supporters for their confidence in me. I am committed to working hard and making the team win.”

Finidi previously worked in the NPFL with nine-time champions Enyimba.

He spearheaded Enyimba’s title success in the 2022/23 season.
