“It is Heart-breaking To Be Left Out Of Super Falcons World Cup Final List – Ngozi Okobi Cries Out

Super Falcons midfielder, Ngozi Okobi has expressed sadness over her surprised exclusion from the teams 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Randy Waldrum shockingly excluded the star player from his final list made available on Saturday without providing explanations.

Okobi Played an impactful role as the Super Falcons defeated Cameroon 1-0 at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morrocco last year.

The 29-year-old Levante Las Planas of Spain player said it is sad that the people she worked with have consistently underrated her.

Okobi said she would take solace in the show of love from her fans and well-wishers who have all continued to question the rationale for her not making the final Super Falcons shortlist.

“The more tag notifications I get on my phone the more I keep crying. What a show of love, I know am always underrated by the people I work with, I never knew my fans, family and love once still believe in me. Thank you all.

“It’s broken to be left out but what can I do, NOTHING,” she said on her Twitter handle on Saturday.

Ngozi played the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with the Falconets (nickname of the younger Nigeria women’s national football teams).

Ngozi Okobi has played for the Nigerian team albeit the under 17 squad since 2008 and got her first senior call up immediately after the U-17 tournament in 2010. The forward registered her first international goal against Zambia where she aided Nigeria trounce the hosts 6–0 at the 2014 African Women’s Championship.

She has 27 caps for the nine-time Africa champions.

Having played a key role at the last AWCON tournament in Morocco where Nigeria secured qualification for the showpiece in Australia and New Zealand, Okobi understandably will be displeased she has been denied what might probably be her last realistic chance to feature at the Women’s World Cup
