NFF Gives NPFL Clubs Deadline To Clear Salary Arrears

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has taken a definite step in settling the continuing issue of unpaid salaries and bonuses to players and coaches from the 2022/2023 NPFL season.

In a letter addressed to all participating clubs for the new season, the NFF set a deadline of July 31st for clubs to comply with settlement and redemption of any outstanding payments or provide an acceptable Financial Guarantee to ensure that payment of outstanding arrears are met.

Clubs are also expected to provide a tentative payment plan to demonstrate their commitment in resolving these financial issues.

The dire situation has affected several teams in the NPFL, with notable mention to the defending champions, Enyimba FC, who are among the clubs struggling to clear their salary arrears and unpaid bonuses. This predicament has cast a shadow over the league and raised concerns among players and fans alike.

As the clock ticks towards the deadline, clubs are urged to act swiftly and responsibly to fulfil their obligations. The NFF’s decision comes as a crucial step towards restoring confidence in the league and securing the well-being of players and coaches who have faced financial uncertainties.
