Rangers International moved to the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League on Saturday, the first day of the match day 5, after thrashing Kano Pillars 4-1 at the Awka City Stadium.
The Flying Antelope came from behind to secure a remarkable 4-1 win over visiting Kano Pillars.
Muhammad Yakubu scored the opener for Pillars in the 11th minute before Godwin Obaje restored parity for Rangers in the 22 minute from the penalty spot after a handball incident.
At the restart of the second half of the encounter, three quick goals from Isaac Saviour in the 54th minute and two from the skipper of the side, Chukwudi Nwaodu on the 57th and 62nd minutes took the game off the reach of the four-time league champions giving Fidelis Ilechukwu’s team an emphatic 4-1 victory over coach Abdu Maikaba’s side.
In Benin, Akwa United were able to absorb all the attacking threats from hosts Bendel Insurance to earn an impressive goalless draw.
At the Pantami Stadium, Shuaibu scored the only goal of the match as Gombe United defeated Plateau United 1-0.
The remaining six NPFL games will be played on Sunday with the one involving Enyimba International and Remo Stars postponed.
