NPFL Super Six Playoffs: Bendel Insurance Set Unbeaten Record After Lobi Draw

Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten run in the league to 19 games after playing out a goalless draw against Lobi Stars on Saturday June 3 in the third fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League Super Six playoffs at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Both teams created enough opportunities to win the game but failed to capitalise on them.

With this result, Insurance established a new record for the longest unbeaten streak in the Nigerian top flight, surpassing Akwa United’s 18-game unbeaten run from their title-winning season in 2021.

The Benin Arsenals have now gone 24 games without losing since being promoted back to the Premier league after a four-year recess.

It was the only game that failed to produce a goal on matchday one of the Super Six playoffs.

Enyimba were held to a 2-2 draw by Remo Stars in the opening match while holders Rivers United defeated Sunshine Stars 1-0.

Insurance will face Sunshine Stars on Monday June 5 in their next fixture while Lobi Stars will do battle against eight-time Nigerian champions Enyimba on the same day.
