NPFL Super Six Playoffs: Day three of draws

All three games of matchday three of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super Six Playoffs ended in draws on Wednesday June 7 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos.

BENDEL INSURANCE 1-1 ENYIMBA FC

Bendel Insurance extended their unbeaten run this season to 21 games after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against eight-time Nigerian champions Enyimba FC, in the first fixture of the day.
Several chances were created by both teams in a keenly contested battle, as both sides desperately search for three points.

Sadiq Abubakar scored the opener for Enyimba in the 23rd minute with a curling strike from inside the box.

Divine Nwachukwu headed the Benin Arsenals level 1-1 in the 37th minute, to earn his second goal of the playoffs.

The Peopleโ€™s Elephants remain on top with five points after one win and two draws from three games, while Bendel Insurance have three points from three draws.

Enyimba will face Sunshine Stars in their next game on Friday, while Bendel Insurance will do battle against Rivers United on the same day.

REMO STARS 1-1 SUNSHINE STARS

Sunshine Stars came from a goal down to hold Remo Stars to a 1-1 draw in a Southwest derby in the second game of matchday three.

Samuel Anakwe scored the opening goal for Remo Stars in the 12th minute after receiving a cross from Sodiq Ismail.

Emmanuel Gyang drew level for Sunshine Stars 1-1 two minutes into the second half.

Both Coaches made changes in their quest to find a winner but the game ended 1-1.

Both teams are yet to record a win in the NPFL Super Six so far and now need to win their remaining two games to have a chance of lifting the title.

Remo Stars have amassed three points from three games while Sunshine Stars have garnered two points from their three matches played so far.

The Sky Blue Stars will take on Lobi Stars in their next game on Friday as the Owena Whales tackle Enyimba on the same day.

LOBI STARS 0-0 RIVERS UNITED FC

Reigning champions Rivers United were held to a goalless draw by Lobi Stars in the final game of matchday three on Wednesday.

Stanley Eguma watched with frustration on the sidelines as the Pride of Rivers dominated proceedings and created the best chances in the game but were unable to convert from the several opportunities that came their way.

Both sides toiled in vain in search of a winner. There was nothing to separate Lobi Stars and Rivers United as it finished 0-0 at the expiration of regulation time.

Rivers United remain second on the table with 5 points from three games and will next face Bendel Insurance on Friday, while Lobi Stars with just two points from three matches will trade tackles against Remo Stars on the same day.
