NPFL Week 6: Remo Goes Top, Rivers, Enyimba Secure Away Draws As Akwa Utd Gets 1st 3 Points

In Ikenne, Remo thrashed Shooting ToStars 3-0, in the South-West Derby at the Remo Stars Stadium.

Ahmed Akinyele scored in the 20th minute to give Daniel Ogunmodede-led side an early lead before Sikiru Alimi converted from the spot kick in the 40th minute, and then added the second in the 63rd minute from a close range to seal the win and move the Sky Blues from Ikenne to the top of the log.

Heartland FC’s winless run this season continued after they were held to a 1-1 draw against former champions, Rivers United, at the Dan Ànyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Onyekachi Okafor gave the Naze Millionaires the lead in the 18th minute before Farouk Mohammed struck a superb free kick in the 37th minute to level the game 1-1 for the Pride of Rivers.

At the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofarmata, Kano, Kano Pillars defeated visititing Bayelsa United 3-0.

Mubarak Sani scored the opener for Sai Masu Gida in the 31st minute before veteran captain Rabiu Ali doubled their lead in the 50th minute of play. Substitute Abba Adam wrapped up the win for Abdul Maikaba’s side in the 84th minute to condemn the Prosperity Boys from Yenagoa, to another defeat on the road.

In Kaduna, defending champions Enyimba FC held Niger Tornadoes of Minna to a goalless away draw, despite the offer of double winning bonus to the players by the Kanu Nwankwo led management team.

Kwara United came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 win over Sporting Lagos, at the Ilorin Sports Complex Stadium.

Jonathan Alukwu scored the opener for Sporting within just 59 seconds of the game, to give the visitors a dream start.

However, Kwara United responded with goals from Ejeh Isiah at the stroke of halftime and Ifeanyi Odiiannga in the 85th minute, to give the home side a 2-1 victory .

In Akure, Michael Olalusi 90+5 minutes penalty goal gave Sunshine Stars a 2-1 victory over Abia Warriors.

Osonugwu Adejohan gave the visitors an early lead within 15 minutes of play before Ekerette Udom equalised in the 38th minute for the Akure Gunners.

The hosts were awarded a penalty in the final minutes of added time after Abia Warriors defender Collins Nwoburuoke handled the ball inside his box.

Olalusi converted from the spot to give Sunshine Stars a 2-1 win.

In Jos, ten-man Plateau United secured a narrow 1-0 win against Katsina United, at the New Jos Stadium, as Christopher Nwaeze’s 13th minute strike proved to be the difference between the two teams.

At the Eket Stadium in Uyo, Akwa United secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 home victory over Gombe United,

Kufre Ebong scored the match-winner for the Promise Keepers in the 35th minute which ended Fatai Osho’s five matches without a win.
