NWFL Super 6: Coaches’ reaction as Rivers Angels draw Nasarawa Amazons

Rivers Angels dropped to 3rd position from 1st following a goalless draw with 5th placed Nasarawa Amazons on Wednesday in Matchday 3 opener of the ongoing NWFL Super Six Championship at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

After the game, Rivers Angels head coach, Whyte Ogbonda, expressed his disappointment over the result, stating that ball possession alone doesn’t win matches.
He was, however, optimistic his girls could win the remaining two games.

“The game ended goalless, I think it was such a bad game bearing in mind that these are two champions of the NWFL in previous years. We as coaches expected the match to be very tough, but the result we got today wasn’t the result we expected.”

“No team is a pushover, but we are confident that we will take the two remaining matches because I’m hoping that upsets would happen to other contenders of this championship.

“Possession doesn’t win the match, I’m here for business, and the business in football is to get goals.” Whyte emphasized.

Nasarawa Amazons are without a win in their three games so far, but their coach, Christopher Danjuma, assures that his team will keep fighting till the end.

“I don’t see any unbeatable team, that’s it. I tell you, we are here to fight to the end, and that’s what we would continue to do.

“I have a team I’m building, I’m not disappointed in the team. My players expressed themselves today. It’s about players’ development.” Danjuma noted.

The Super Six goes on recess tomorrow, Thursday, and resumes on Friday, 24 May, with matchday 4, where Rivers Angels will take on Confluence Queens while Nasarawa Amazons will face Edo Queens.
