Reigning champions, Bayelsa Queens began their title defence with a slender 1-0 victory over Robo Queens on Wednesday June 7 in the NWFL Super Six at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
In a keenly contested battle, Sabastine Flourish scored the only goal of the match in the 57th minute, against the run of play, to give the Prosperity Girls a 1-0 win over the Lagos Landladies.
This is the second consecutive loss for Robo Queens following a 2-0 loss to Rivers Angels, in their opening game.
In the other Super Six encounter, Confluence Queens registered their first win of the tournament after defeating Edo Queens 1-0 with Osigwe Chukwuamaka scoring the only goal of the game in the 56th minute.
The Lokoja Ladies kept their title hopes alive with this victory, having lost their opening fixture to Delta Queens on Tuesday.
Bayelsa Queens will do battle against Rivers Angels in the first match of match day three before Delta Queens will lock horns against Edo Queens in the second match of the day.
