NWFL Super Six: Delta Queens stun Bayelsa Queens 2-1 to clinch title And N10m

Delta Queens have emerged champions of the 2022/23 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) season following their 2-1 victory over Bayelsa Queens on Sunday June 11 in the Women’s Super Six playoffs at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, Delta.

Bayelsa Queens took the lead in the 14th minute through an own goal by Chisom Henry, and were able to maintain the 1-0 lead throughout the first half.

Chinaza Agoh equalised for Delta Queens in the 67th minute with a brilliant acrobatic kick before completing her brace in the 86th minute of the encounter to clinch the league title for the Asaba-based club.

Delta Queens also earned themselves the N10 million prize money and will represent Nigeria on the continent. They automatically qualify for the WAFU B Women’s CAF Champions League qualifier later in the year.

The two finalists in the regional Champions League qualifiers will proceed to the main tournament of the CAF Champions League.
