Reigning champions, Bayelsa Queens boosted their title defence after defeating Rivers Angels 1-0 on Friday June 9 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, to qualify for the final of the 2023 NWFL Super Six.
A 3rd minute penalty by Glory Edet gave the Prosperity Girls a slim 1-0 victory over Rivers Angels, in a tightly contested encounter, and an opportunity to defend their title.
This is the second consecutive victory for Bayelsa Queens following a 1-0 win over Robo Queens on Wednesday June 7.
The defending champions, Bayelsa Queens, now top Group A standings with six points, while the Jewels of Rivers finished second with three points with the Lagos Landladies, Robo Queens, bottom of Group A with no point.
Rivers Angels will face second-placed team in Group B for the 3rd and 4th places on Sunday June 11th, by 10am.
While the Prosperity Girls (Bayelsa Queens) will lock horns with the winner of Group B preliminaries for the FINAL to determine the NWFL23 Champions and runner-up.
Host Delta Queens will lock horns against Edo Queens in the second match of today, Friday June 9 to determine the standings in Group B.
The grand finale match will be played on Sunday June 11th by 4 pm at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
