NWFL Super Six: Hosts Delta Queens Face Bayelsa Queens In Sunday Final After Stalemate Against Edo

Hosts Delta Queens were held to a goalless draw against Edo Queens on Friday June 9 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, to seal their passage to the final of the 2023 NWFL Super Six tournament.

Delta Queens only needed a draw to secure a place in the final while Edo Queens needed to win the game with two or more goals to qualify for the Super Six playoffs final.

Very few chances were created in a cagey first half as both sides were more concerned about not conceding.

The game opened up in the second half after both coaches made several changes after the break, to change the tempo of the match.

Both teams searched for a winner to no avail as the game ended 0-0.

Delta Queens now top Group B standings with four points, while Confluence Queens remained second with three points. Edo Queens finished bottom of the group with only one point.

Confluence Queens will face Rivers Angels for the 3rd and 4th places on Sunday June 11th, by 10am.

While Hosts Delta Queens will do battle against defending champions Bayelsa Queens in the FINAL to determine the NWFL 2023 Champions and runner-up.

The grand finale match will be played on Sunday June 11th by 4 pm at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.

The Prize Money for the 2023 NWFL Premiership Super Six winner is N10m. The first runner up goes home with N5m while the third place team receives N3m.
