Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen is set to return to Italy on Wednesday following his extended one-week leave from Napoli which he spent in Nigeria, after resolving his feud with his brother-in-law.
Osimhen had been in Lagos for over a week to attend to family matters and also to recuperate from a hamstring injury he sustained during Nigeria’s international 2-2 friendly draw against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia in Portugal last month.
“Osimhen will return to Naples after the two weeks spent in Nigeria with the club’s authorization to keep up with the latest, complex family events.
“He had an agreement with Napoli, and the doctors and club trainers sent him his recovery programme and had been doing that while in Lagos.”
“He is fine now, and has resolved his personal issues with his sister and brother-in-law in a legal case in Lagos, over the sum he collected from him (brother-in-law), following his transfer to Napoli from Lille, and he announced his return to Naples on Wednesday.” according to Italian source, Il Mattino.
The 24-year-old has missed Napoli’s matches against Hella Verona, Union Berlin, AC Milan and Salernitana, with the Italian champions winning three and drawing one of those four games, during his absence.
Upon his return, Osimhen is expected undergo further tests with the medical staff to assess the progress of his rehabilitation.
The objective of his club is to have him back in action for Napoli’s crunch champions league tie against Real Madrid on November 29, as the Partenopei have no desire to rush him for their games before then.
Meanwhile, Osimhen, who recently emerged as the 8th best player in the world in the 2023 Ballon D’Or, will be in the stands to cheer his teammates on in the Champions League game against Union Berlin at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
