President Federation Cup: Blessing Okpe Hat-Trick Zooms Rivers Angels to Semi-Final

Rivers Angels have advanced to the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup after a commanding 5-0 victory over Osun Babes on Wednesday.

The Jewels of Rivers entered the match with confidence, having previously dominated NWFL champions Edo Queens with a 4-1 victory to secure their quarter-final spot.

Blessing Okpe opened the scoring in the 14th minute, and Rivers Angels doubled their lead with a penalty kick converted by Okpe in the 22nd minute. Olamide Adugbe combined with Aminat Folorunsho to net the third goal in the 37th minute, giving Rivers Angels a commanding lead at halftime.

In the second half, Okpe completed her hat-trick with a precise cross from Chiamaka Okwuchukwu in the 63rd minute, and Adugbe scored her second goal two minutes later, bringing the score to 5-0.

Head coach Whyte Ogbonda praised his team for their top performance, dismissing the notion that Osun Babes was a weaker opposition.

“My girls did their best to ensure we qualify for the semi-finals. We narrowly lost the league title, but they did well today.”

Ogbonda acknowledged Osun Babes’ hard work in reaching the quarter-finals and stated that his team is like wounded lions, ready to crush any opposition to win the President Federation Cup.

The Jewels of Rivers will face Delta Queens in the semi-finals, while Naija Ratels will face Remo Stars Ladies in the second semi-final.
