Remo Stars ousted from CAF Champions League

Remo Stars have been eliminated from this year’s CAF Champions League following their 0-2 loss to AS FAR in Rabat on Sunday night.

The result was aided by a questionable penalty decision awarded to the hosts in the 7th minute, as the Moroccan military outfit advanced to the second round 3-2 on aggregate.

The Sky Blue Stars started the game with a defensive approach until the 53rd minute when Congolese import Joel Beya scored the opener for the Moroccans.

The Beniniois referee awarded a soft penalty to the hosts, which was converted by Amine Zouhzouh in the 80th minute to make it 2-0.

Remo went into late offensive but their efforts didn’t yield any goal.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s champions, Enugu Rangers have been drawn against Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperança of Angola in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

The Flying Antelopes advanced after eliminating Comoros Islands’ US Zilimadjou.

Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperança progressed after seeing off Saint-Louis Suns United of Seychelles on a 4-0 aggregate.
