Rivers United football club has announced the appointment of Evans Ogenyi as their new chief coach.
The coach is expected to immediately join the technical crew led by Stanley Eguma as the Pride of Rivers prepare for the upcoming NPFL season.
Ogenyi once managed Warri Wolves, Lobi Stars and most recently Kano Pillars who he guided back to the NPFL.
Speaking after his appointment, the newly signed tactician expressed his delight in joining the former NPFL champions.
“After speaking with Coach Stanley Eguma, it was a really easy decision to join the coaching set-up here,” Evans said. “It’s an exciting time to become part of this great team and I’m looking forward to working with everyone more closely on and off the pitch.
“I love this club and it’s such a great feeling to be here.”
Rivers United finished third in last season’s NPFL Super Six Playoffs. The Port Harcourt based club will be representing Nigeria in this year’s CAF confederations cup.
