Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba To Host NNL Super 8 Playoffs

The Stephen Keshi Stadium In Asaba, Delta State, has been confirmed by the Nigeria National League, NNL, as the host city for the 2023 NNL Super 8 Playoffs.

Eight teams including EFCC of Abuja, Katsina United, Kano Pillars, DMD, FC Rockets, Stormers SC, Heartland FC and Sporting Lagos have booked their place in the playoffs.

The head of the operation of the league body, Emmanuel Adesanya, made the revelation on Thursday afternoon and further thanked the newly elected governor for agreeing to stage the playoffs.

” We are happy to announce that Delta Stae Government has given their consent to host the Super 8 at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium in Asaba.

“We must congratulate His Excellency Sheriff Oborevwori for his election as the governor of the state and for granting the hosting of the NNL Playoff”, he said

“The permission granted has again stamped Delta State as the hub of sports in Nigeria”, the NNL boss emphasised.

The Asaba 2023 NNL Super 8 is the 13th edition of the season-ending competition and 3rd Super 8 edition. Previously, the playoffs had taken the Super Four format which had witnessed 10 editions since the creation of NNL.

The week-long tournament is scheduled to hold from the last week of June through the first week of July, 2023.

Delta had just hosted the Women’s football league NWFL Premiership Super Six Playoffs and will be hosting the final of the 2023 Federation Cup on Wednesday June 21.

Delta State has hosted prominent sporting events in the past and played key roles in the development of sports in Nigeria.
