Strickland Defeats Adesanya To Become New UFC Middleweight Champion

American Sean Strickland defeated Isreal Adeanya to become the new UFC middleweight world champion after all three judges in a unanimous decision scored the fight in his favour at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

The fight went the whole five rounds with a first-round knock down by the American as one of the highlights.

All three judges scored the fight 49-46 in favour of Strickland. The American dropped Adesanya in the first round and never looked back, serving up constant pressure and steady upright boxing to deliver a unanimous decision victory over Israel Adesanya to become the new middleweight world champion in the UFC 293 headliner Sunday.

The Nigerian-born fighter Adesanya will have to go back to the drawing board as he was on the back foot throughout the clash.

This is Adesanya’s third loss bringing his total record to 24-3 now while Strickland improves to 28-5.
