The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated the newly designated Minister of Sports, Senator John Owan Enoh.
SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, in a press statement issued by the Association’s Secretary-General Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo on Thursday in Abuja expressed optimism that the new Sports Minister will bring his political pedigree to bare.
“Going by his experience in public and private service, we believe that Senator Enoh will work to uplift Nigeria’s sports to higher heights.
“As a successful politician since he ventured into the political space in 1997, the sporting space will be a good fit for his commitment to serve and make sports viable.
“The sporting media will surely give all the support to succeed. We will also continuously play our watchdog role in a bid to make it easy for the new sports Minister and indeed other administrators to operate seamlessly,” the statement said.
Senator Enoh who was named the Minister for Sports on Wednesday August 17, 2023 will be officially inaugurated on Monday August 21, 2023, alongside his colleagues by President Bola Tinubu.
Born on 1966, Senator Enoh hails from Agbokim Waterfall community, Etung local government area of Cross River State.
He served as a Senator representing the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State in the 8th Assembly of the Senate, after he represented his constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
