Tunisia coach Kadri steps down after disappointing AFCON campaign

Tunisia coach, Jalel Kadri has announced he is stepping down after his team’s elimination from the group stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Kadri made his decision known after the Carthage Eagles’ goalless draw against South Africa, which confirmed the end of their AFCON campaign.

“My decision is definite. My contract fixed as an objective the semi-finals and because we haven’t made that, the contract is over,” he said in a post-match interview on television.

Tunisia exit the competition winless in Group E, scoring only a solitary goal in the 1-1 draw against the Eagles of Mali.

He joins the coaches of Algeria, Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia to leave their posts on Wednesday.
