U17 Girls Volleyball C’ship: Nimrod charges Nigeria to beat Egypt in final

President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod has hailed the Nigeria U17 Girls for qualifying for the final of the 2023 Girls U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship in Abuja.

Nigeria defeated Cameroon 3-1 (26-24,23-25,26-24) in the semifinals of the championship played at the indoor sports hall of Moshood Abiola Stadium, package B in Abuja.

Nimrod hailed the relentless spirit of the girls for giving Cameroon a good fight despite losing the 2nd set.

He said, “The performance of the girls was excellent because their mentality and approach to the match against Cameroon was impressive.

“They stuck to the game plan from the beginning of the match to the last set, putting pressure on Cameroonians. Nigeria lost the second set as a result of the Cameroonians capitalising on the minor errors of the players.

Nimrod believes the Nigerian team will give Egypt a good fight in the final today.

He said, “I will advise the coaching crew to remain focused and not be under threat from Egyptians. The players have to stick to the game plan drawn by their coaches so that they can win the final.

“A win for the Nigerians would be fantastic but I am happy that they are playing in the final comfortably”.

“For today’s final, I am not going to put any pressure on the girls because they have gotten the World Championship ticket”.

The Federation boss also called on fans to come out in large numbers and support the team.
