WAFU B CAF WCL Final: Delta Queens Coach Confident Of Victory Over Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa

As the Nigeria representatives Delta Queens Football Club of Asaba takes on Ampem Darkoa FC of Ghana in the finals of the ongoing WAFU B CAF Women Champions League qualifiers today at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City, head coach of the Nigeria side, Tosan Blankson, has expressed optimism that his girls will continue their impressive run of play in this evening cracker against the reigning reigning Ghanaian league champions Ampem Darkoa FC of Ghana.

The Nigeria Champions who have remain unbeaten in this competition, would have to work extra hard to be able to pocket the Red- hot ladies from Ghana who have also distinguished themselves in race to Cote d’ Ivoire for the Champions League proper in November 2023.

Speaking to journalists after a hard earn 3-2 victory in the semi final game against a physically fit Athletico ladies from Ivory Coast.
Coach Tosan Blankson, said:

“I’m very happy for this victory, I give kudos to my girls, this is one of the best game, coming from one goal down to win 3-2 is a good game. No team came here for jamboree, they came for business. You can see that they were more physical than us, but the most important thing in the round leather game is goals. I really commend the two sides, they gave good account of themselves. My team stood their ground, they were resilient coming from a goal down to win 3-2 is an indication that Delta Queens came for business too”.

“Now that we are playing against the defending champions in the finals on Thursday, there is nothing to be scared off, we are Nigeria’s representative in this 3rd edition of Women CAF Champions League, we are ready to give Ampem Darkoa FC of Ghana a run for their money. The Ghanaians are good no doubt, they have not drop any game but we are not going to give room for complacency, it is going to be muscle for muscle and strength for strength.

We are ready and won’t disappoint our teeming fans across Nigeria. I’m very confident my girls will make us proud and also make Nigeria proud. The ladies from Ghana will fall. It is going to be a tough encounter, our girls are equal to the task . We are not under pressure with hard work and determination we will get there”.

Meanwhile the Executive Governor of Edo State His Excellency Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, His Deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philips Shaibu, top Government functionaries from Delta State, Nigeria Football Federation top members, WAFU representatives and Chairman Edo State Sports Commission Mr. Yusuf Ali will all be present to grace today’s finals.

The venue of the final is the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. The epic game is expected to kickoff by 3pm.
