WAFU B U20 Women’s Cup : Nigeria’s Falconets trash Burkina Faso 3-0.

Falconets defeated Burkina Faso 3-0 on Sunday, in their last Group B match of the 2023 WAFU B U20 Women’s Cup of Nations at the Paa Joe Stadium, Kumasi.

A brace from Esther Ajakaye in either half of the game and a third from substitute Flourish Sabastine were enough for Nigeria to maintain their perfect winning run in the competition.

Before the game, Burkina Faso had already qualified for the semifinal after beating Togo and Niger. They found it difficult to make it three wins in a row, when they met a free-scoring Nigerian team in their last group game.

The Falconets trashed Niger 7-0 in their opening group game, before smashing Togo 6-0 in the second group fixture.

Esther Ajakaye has now scored six goals in the tournament so far, leading the goalscorer’s chat.

With this victory, Christopher Danjuma’s team finish as Group B winners and will face Benin in the semifinals. Burkina Faso also progress despite the lose and will tackle hosts Ghana for a place in the final.
