WAFU U-17: Golden Eaglets trash Togo to face Cote d’Ivoire in semis

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets will on Saturday face Cote d’Ivoire in the semifinal of the WAFU B U17 AFCON Championship in Ghana after thrashing the Sparrow Hawks of Togo 3-0 to finish top of Group B.

Striker Abdulmuiz Adeleke gave Nigeria the lead in the 11th minute, following an assist from Abdulmuiz Oladimeji.

Rapha Adams doubled the lead in the 36th minute with a diving header off a superb cross from skipper Simon Cletus.

Adeleke sealed the win with his brace coming in the 57th minute, courtesy of another through ball from skipper Cletus.

The Central Academy striker was denied a hat-trick by the foot of the Togolese goalkeeper in the 69th minute from the penalty spot.

Nigeria’s Edward Ochigbo was named Man of the Match following his impressive performance.

In the other Group B fixture, Burkina Faso scraped a 1-0 win over Niger to finish as Runners-up in the group.

Hosts Ghana will face Burkina Faso in the other semifinal, with the winners advancing to represent the region in the CAF U-17 AFCON later this year.
