Wilder wants ‘The Biggest Fight In The World’ with Anthony Joshua

Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is considering flying to meet Anthony Joshua in a bid to get their long-awaited fight over the line.

The American held the WBC heavyweight title from 2015 to 2020 when Joshua was unifying the other three titles, and a match-up at one stage would have been to crown an undisputed champion.

Currently, without the politics of titles, mandatories and rankings, both boxers are struggling to make the fight happen.

Joshua has fought twice in 2023 with the hope that a Wilder fight will happen soon, but an offer from Saudi Arabia’s Skill Challenge Entertainment is now off the table.

It means negotiations have taken a step back, with the promoters now looking to secure a venue elsewhere.

Speaking on Blue Blood Sports TV, Wilder said he was fed up with it all, and wanted to skip the politics to speak to his potential opponent directly.“I just don’t know what’s up with Joshua bro. Maybe I’m going to have to call him or something, I’m going to have to England, sit down with him on some real man s**t.”

“Now we’re in this situation, and what do we do about it? Joshua, you and me is the biggest fight in the world, bro. What are you doing? How many people are you listening to? I really want to talk to the dude. I cannot hear that he needs more time.”

Joshua’s team says that the Wilder fight is still at the top of the list. There’s also the addition of Francis Ngannou to the heavyweight scene, with both teams openly targeting him for their men.

Wilder has now been out of the ring for over a year, and seems intent on waiting around for ‘AJ.’
